Normal anything with the word “slim” on the packet I avoid like the plague. I find that many products that claim to be ”fat free” or “slimming” are usually full of sugar; and as sugar is converted into fat the whole “fat free’ claim is one big FAT lie! So it goes without saying I was more than a little dubious when I received some packets of Slim Pasta, but must say I was pleasantly surprised.
For starters:
There is NO added sugar in the ingredients
And they use purified water – Hmm perhaps we are onto something good here!
The main ingredient in the pasta is the konjac plant - a vegetable grown in mainly Asian countries. It is low in calories (only 6.4 per serve) and high in fiber.
To test out the Slim Pasta pasta I included it in a stir fry I made last night, here is what I used.
Slim Pasta Veggie Stir Fry
1 packet of Angel Hair Slim Pasta
1 broccoli finely chopped
1 green pepper finely chopped
1 carrot finely chopped
Firm tofu of choice finely chopped
1 onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic finely chopped
Soya sauce
Coconut oil
Steps
Saute onion and garlic in the oil
Add in veggies and tofu
Cook Pasta the pasta following the steps on the packet (it only takes one minute!) and add to stir fry
Serve and eat using chop sticks if you want to be really authentic!
The pasta is more like noodles than traditional pasta, making them perfect for a stir fry. Why not give them a go? I’d be interested to hear what you think!
