Review: Philips Airfryer

I’m becoming very obsessed with kitchen appliances, they make menial tasks so easy! My latest obsession is air frying thanks to my Philips Airfryer – that’s right, air frying. What’s it all about? Let me fill you in…

How does it work?

The airfryer uses a unique patented combination of high-speed air circulation, with a top grill, called Rapid Air technology. The Rapid Air technology makes the hot air circulate very rapidly around the ingredients in the basket.

This heats up the ingredients in the basket from all sides at once, making it a healthy, fast and easy method to prepare tasty food. Food prepared in the airfryer is deliciously crispy on the outside, without being dry on the inside.

A healthy alternative

Conventional deep fat fryers use oil to heat the food and create the crispy layer. The airfryer does not need frying oil. The food is only heated by the circulating hot air. When you air fry chips, the chips prepared contain up to 80% less fat compared to chips prepared in a deep-fat fryer.

When you prepare home made chips, the fat percentage can get as low as 1.5%. Even if you’re like me and don’t use a deep fryer, I always feel like I am wasting oil when I roast veggies in a conventional oven. Air Frying requires no oil, I simply drizzle coconut oil a little Himalayan rock salt over them when they’re done – yum!

Shorter cooking time means you will be eating quicker

And it’s better for the environment. I hate turning on the oven for only one tray of roasted veggies and now I no longer have too! The airfryer cooks pumpkin in 20 minutes and potato chips in 15 minutes, so quick!

It’s not limited to just vegetables!

You can cook cakes, muffins, quiches, meats, fish, poultry, tapas or anything that needs defrosting. So many options!
