I know I have written similar posts in the past but as my tastes and expectations change I want to keep you in the know of where I love to go! So as of November 2012, these are my top 10 favourite healthy restaurants in Sydney. I’ve made a note to write the post again in 6 months, it will be interesting to see who has been added or even kicked off the list 😉
Yulli’s – 417 Crown St, Surry Hills. Yulli’s is a vegetarian restaurant even a hard core meat lover will love! Yulli’s has a fantastic range of vegan dishes and wines as well as an impressive boutique beer collection. What’s my favourite? The Vietnamese Crepe is amazing but you won’t be disappointed with anything you order.
Iku –CBD, Lower North Shore, Inner West and Eastern Suburbs. Iku is a chain of 13 vegan cafes spread throughout Sydney. Where possible they use organic ingredients and many items are gluten free.
Grill’d – Chatswood, Crows Nest, Darlinghurst Crown St, Darlinghurst Victoria St, Harbourside and Parramatta. The place to go to for healthy burgers! There are three vegetarian burgers on the menu and all can be made vegan and gluten free.
The Bentley – 320 Crown Street Surry Hills. A modern Australian 2 hatted restaurant with a fantastic vegetarian tasting menu. Perfect for a special occasion.
Peasants Feast – 121A King St. Newtown. The Peasants Feast is an organic restaurant, which boasts a menu that is vegan and vegetarian-friendly, as well as wheat, gluten, dairy, egg, nut, soy, salicylates, amines and monosodium free if required.
Longrain – 85 Commonwealth Street Surry Hills. Longrain is a blend of Thai and southern Chinese cuisine. The bar in the basement is camouflage themed, perfect for drinks or if you just want something light.
Sababa – Bondi Beach, Newtown and Westfield CBD food court. For the best falafels and Middle Eastern food in Sydney, you must go to Sababa. It’s affordable and great if you’re in a hurry.
Sadhana Kitchen – 76A Wilford Street Newtown. Sadhana Kitchen is slowly becoming my favourite café in Sydney; everything on their menu is vegan, raw, alive, organic and free from added sugar. My kind of café!
Nourishing Quarter– 315 Cleveland Street, Redfern. Imagine 100% vegan, fusion Vietnamese cuisine, combined with a grandma’s tea party and you get Nourishing Quarter! Bookings are essential on a Friday & Saturday night to avoid being turned away.
Agape Organic Restaurant and Bar – 1385 Botany Road, Botany. Some might say it’s too far out travel to but for me, it’s well and truly worth the drive. Agape is the only certified organic restaurant in Sydney and the food (while a little on the expensive side) speaks for itself. Call ahead if you have any special dietary requirements and they’ll make a special menu for you.
Are your food choices changing? Have you been to any places on the list?
