1. Recipe: Raw Beetroot and Carrot Salad

    2
Ready for another recipe? This is the final recipe my Mum made when we went visit them a few weeks ago. It’s raw, easy to make and great for cleansing your blood (thanks to the beetroot). It’s the perfect salad when lettuce just doesn’t cut it. Ingredients 4 medium beetroot, peeled and grated 5 small carrots, grated 1 lemon, juiced 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped 2 tbsp chives, finely chopped sea salt to taste Steps Mix beetroot, carrots, parsley and chives together. Add lemon juice and mix well. For more of my parents super healthy and yummy recipes click here...
  2. Recipe: Lentil and Rice Loaf

    6
This is another of my Mum’s recipes and one of my favourites. It’s the perfect replacement for meat and tastes great with a yummy tomato sauce if you’re feeling so inclined. Ingredients ½ cup brown rice 1 cup red lentils 2 small red sweet potatoes 1 onion – grated 2 cloves garlic 1 cup rolled oats ¼ cup ground arrowroot ½ cup breadcrumbs 2 tblsp tamari or bragg aminos 1 tsp finely chopped rosemary leaves 2 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp mustard seeds 2 tsp olive oil Sea salt to taste Steps Cook brown rice. Cook red lentils. Peel and steam...
  3. Recipe: Quinoa Salad

    Comment
Mum made this salad for us to eat on moving day. We ate in on my bed with a sea of boxes around us, while I was trying to find my lost jogger. To be honest, I could have eaten anything by lunchtime because I was so hungry, but it does taste really good and it’s super healthy too! Ingredients 1 cup quinoa 1½ cups water 1 carrot – peeled and grated 1 cob corn – steamed or raw. Remove kernels from cob 2 tablespoons fresh parsley 1 red or green pepper – diced 1 small zucchini – grated 1 handful of snow peas...
  4. Recipe: “I Have No Ingredients” Soup

    2
It’s moving week and the fridge is looking very empty for a Monday. Faiz cleverly needed to go to Cairns for work, which means I get to be really creative in the kitchen this week. I refused to go grocery shopping on Saturday because I get a little rush out of finding new and interesting ways to put foods together, plus we did have a fair amount of food left…Well we did on Saturday! Today the food left is a little random, like jigsaw pieces from two different sets that are never going to fit together, unless you get your hands...
  5. Recipe: Mid Week Lasagne

    1
The last time I made lasagne it took three hours and by the end of it I was ready to go to bed, not sit down for dinner. Personally if what I’m making is too long and complicated, I find it really detracts from the whole experience. When I do finally sit down to eat I don’t enjoy it as much as I would if it only took an hour or 20 minutes to make. Does this happen to you? Because my last experience making lasagne was, how should I say.. exhausting! I’ve resisted making the dish ever since, I...
